87th New York Infantry Regiment's Civil War Newspaper Clippings

MCCLELLAND INFANTRY.

So recently as this regiment was started, their rolls now show over four hundred men. They will be sent, doubtless, into camp during the present week. The colonel is A. J. H Dugause, the well-known writer and poet, and formerly member of the State Legislature, where he made himself well-known through his able report upon the tenant-houses of this city. He is a man of energy, vigor, and bravery. The head-quarters of the regiment is at the corner of Center street and Tryon Row, and they have a branch recruiting office at No. 654 Broadway.

(Note: the 87th consolidated with the 40th Reg. and officers mustered out.)
