Benning for 18 weeks & 4 days, Was shipped to the 86th Inf. Div. Camp Livingston, LA, Mar 16, 1944 left GA and arr. in LA Mar. 17, 1944 Co F 343 Inf Reg't, 2nd BN, 3rd Plat 2 Sq rifle company MOS 745 APO 450 4th Army 21st Corps Apr 13-23, 1944 - Furlough at Cp Livingston - 11 days & 1 day grace Sept. 2, 1944 - left Cp Livinghston for Ft Meade, MD. Was at Ft Livingston 5-1/2 months Sept. 5, 1944 - arr at Meade abd stayed there until Sept 30, 1944. Was at Meade 26 days - had one 3day pass, one 30 hr pass and weekend passes to NY. Co C 31st BN, 8the Regt 1st Plat Sept. 30,1944 - arr Camp Shanks, NY after 8hr trip ans stayed there 11 days, and was home on four `12hr passes. Oct. 11, 1944 - left Camp Shanks to ship on the Queen Mary - left 3PM Oct 12, 1944 and took Southern route to Scotland GF 350a Co C 3rd Plat APO 15542 c/o P.M. N.Y.C. Oct. 18, 1944 - arr Galssglow (sic), Scotland at 5AM after 4-1/2 day trip - was on boat 6 days. I then took train South towards England, on Oct. 19, '44 and arr at depot #11 near Liverpool, England 497th Co 104th BN, APO 13. Stayed in England 5 days - left Oct. 24, '44 by train towards South Hampton (sic) - on Oct. 25 '44 Stayed at Sothampton all afternoon, and celebrated the one millionth man to leave for France. Left for France that afternoon across Channel Oct 26, 1944 - arr in France on Omaha Beach - stayed there 3 days - left by truck, cross country Oct 29, 1944 for Western France - 550 mile trip - which took 1-3/4 days - arr at Depot #2, near Epinel, France. Nov. 8, 1944 - left the Depot for the 3rd Div by truck, and joined my Unit Nov. 9, 1944 Co C 7th Inf, Reg 4, 1st BN, Co Hqtrs, as radioman made PFC Nov, 18. Nov. 7, 1944 - Feb. 19, 1945 - Combat time Feb. 16, 1944 - in hospital for sore eyes - 9 days, passes to Nancy Feb 14, 1945 - Mar 13, 1945 - 22 days off line Mar. 14, 1945 - rest at Belliville - near Nancy, France Apr. 1, 1945 - went on sick call while in Germany with 3rd Div. Was sent to 27 Evac Hospital Apr. 3, 1945 - left after 2-1/2 days stay for 195th General Hospital by plane, located near Reims Apr. 7, 1945 - left 195th General Hosp. Hospital Train at noon, to the 224th General Hospial on other side of Paris, arr Apr. 8, 1945 May. 5, 1945 - left 224 Gen Hosp after 27 day stay. My total stay in a hospital was 35 days. Went to a replacement depot in Paris, and stayed over for one day May 6, 1945 - A few days before the end of the war (V-E Day) left for 19 Repl Depot 455th Co and stayed until May 8 and kept moving from Co, to Co. in Depot, and was put on Limited Service (LS) May 10, 1945 - I left holding Co to another and on the 11th I went to Reims, France to join the newly formed A.A.C Assembly Area Command and was put in Signal Section and was there until May 15 when I went to Suippes, Fr. to start a message center. May 30, 1945 - Went back to work in the Signal Supply Section in the Little Red Schoolhouse in Reims, Fr. Jun. 25, 1945 - Was transferred to Suippes Sub Area Jun. 28, 1945 - I was given job AB Clerk to Col Smith Sep. 9, 1945 - Had a furlough to Switzerland - 7 days plus travel time Sep. 28, 1945 - I was transferred to Camp New York Sig. Section. O.I.S.E Oct. 22, 1945 - left for furlough to Switzerland - 7 days plus travel time Oct, 24 - Oct 31, 1945 Nov 1945 - Was transferred from O.I.S.E. to A Btry, 516 F.A. BN, Cp New York, APO 513 Jan, 2, 1945 - Left Cp New York for Camp Pittsburgh - stayed 5 days and left Jan. 6, on orders to Port Command at LeHarve. We went by rail 40 & 8's and arr at LeHarve Jan. 7, 1945, Camp Tarreytown (sic) Jan. 10, 1946 - left Cp Herbert Tarreyown for Cp Philip Morris, was placed TDY to 211 F.A. Gp Jan. 18, 1946 - was put on TDY by 211 F.A. to the 455 AAA Aw Bn Cp P. Morris, APO 801 and latter assigned there and to work in Personnel Section. Was transferred to 156th Inf Co to go to States, but took a furlough to Switzland and Feb. 17, 1946 broke one leg [left ankle, in cast Feb 22, 1946 - Mar, 11, 1946 - from X-rays]. The furlough to Switzerland started Feb. 12, 1946; Was in Mulhouse, Fr. Feb 13, and on the 16th in Switzerland, and on Feb. 17, broke left ankle skiing at Crans, Switaerland. On Feb. 22 they put cast on for 16 days, until Mar. 14, 1946, when ankle was taped up unitl Mar. 20, 1946. Still very sore - and after 4 weeks in Switzerland I got back to LeHarve Mar., 20, 1946 - and on orders to 516 F.A.
