This 34-star silk swallowtail guidon conforms to the “stars and stripes” pattern prescribed in General Order No. 4, Headquarters of the U.S. Army, dated January 18, 1862. Roscoe S. Nickerson, son of Chaplain Linus May Nickerson, 122nd New York Volunteers, deposited this guidon into the flag collection.
