Adjutant General Registers, 1893-1905
These rosters were compiled by the New York State Adjutant General Office. They were published as a set of 43 volumes between 1893 and 1905. Their official titles are Annual Report of the Adjutant-General of the State of New York for the Year ... : Registers of the [units numbers]. These should not be confused with the regular reports put out by the New York Adjutant General during the same period.
These rosters were digitized by the New York State Library. For a complete list of the documents the library has digitized see www.nysl.nysed.gov/ scandocs/
These are all Adobe Acrobat files and they can be very large. The largest is 80 MB. These have been 'read' so they can be searched using the Acrobat Search funtion. However, they have not been checked for spelling so there are many mis-spellings. you cannot see these mis-spellings because the text is under the page image so please be aware that just because you have searched for a word using the Acrobat search function, this will not take the place of reading.

Veteran's Oral History Project
Established by the Governor on Veterans' Day, 2000, the New York State Veteran Oral History Program involves professional military historians using the latest digital technology to preserve the story of New York's Veterans—in their own words—now and for all generations to come.
The program is concentrating on the state's sizable World War II Veteran community; however, we are also collecting the experiences of veterans of all periods and services.
Additional Resources
Our records are primarily related to the New York National Guard, therefore, we little or no information on federal installations and/or personnel who served in the US forces (Army, Navy, Marines, etc.).
There are additional resources listed with each of the units within the Unit History section of this website. You can also contact the local public library, historical society, city historian and county historian where the unit was raised.
New York Heritage
New York Heritage is a research portal for students, educators, historians, genealogists, and anyone else who is interested in learning more about the people, places and institutions of New York State. The site provides free access to more than 170 distinct digital collections, totalling hundreds of thousands of items.
The collections in New York Heritage represent a broad range of historical, scholarly, and cultural materials held in libraries, museums, and archives throughout the state. Collection items include photographs, letters, diaries, directories, maps, newspapers, books, and more.
New York Heritage is a project of the Empire State Library Network.

ReUnions
We understand that some individuals have had success locating former members of the Armed Forces by placing advertisements in publications of various veterans organizations such as the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which have special columns for reunion purposes.
