4th Regiment, New York National Guard

Nickname: Fourth Heavy Artillery

The following is taken from New York in the War of the Rebellion, 3rd ed. Frederick Phisterer. Albany: J. B. Lyon Company, 1912.

This regiment, six companies, located in New York city, commanded by Col. Daniel W. Teller, was ordered, June 18, 1863, to proceed to Harrisburg, Pa., to serve thirty days. It served as infantry in the Dept. Susquehanna, and was mustered out of the United States service July 24, 1863, at New York city, and at this date is not in existence.
